Getting a Marriage License in Tennessee is simple! No Blood Tests, no waiting! Both parties must be at least 18 and present to obtain a marriage license. If not, parents or legal guardian must sign the marriage certificate. Proof of age is required by driver's license, passport, birth certificate or state issued picture identification. They will ask for your SS#. If you've been married before or widowed, you need the exact date the divorce was final or date of death. If the bride has a name change in her divorce and has not had her name changed on her driver's license, she will need a certified copy of her divorce decree. Out-of-State Applications: Cost is $45. Residents of Tennessee: Cost is $45 (only if you complete the 4-hour Marriage Counseling Class; contact your local courthouse for instructions). If you do not complete this class, the cost is $105 (cash only). If you are not a US citizen, you must have a valid passport to get a marriage license. You may bring a marriage license from any courthouse in Tennessee, obtain one from a location below Both of you must be present and have your legal identification.
